NVG Announces the Summer 2020 Class for the New Visions Group Internship Program

New Visions Group Internship Program Summer 2020 Class

[COLUMBUS, OHIO] — New Visions Group CEO, Derrick R. Clay, is pleased to introduce the New Visions Group Summer 2020 Intern Class. The NVG Internship Program is one of the leading intern programs in the region. 

“I am proud of our program and the students who matriculate through it. We accept and nurture some of the best and brightest students from across the state of Ohio and beyond. We also place great emphasis on supporting students from various backgrounds and bringing these diverse perspectives to NVG and the internship program,” said Ami Williams, Vice President of New Visions Group regarding the NVG Internship Program. 

New Visions Group’s Program emphasizes learning through experience and looks to give students opportunities to grow and develop in their professional careers. The Internship Program is open to students of all majors and backgrounds. New Visions Group is very excited to introduce the largest intern class yet. NVG Executive Staff looks forward to the community and our clients interacting with our Summer 2020 Intern Class.

NVG Summer 2020 Intern Class includes Managing Intern Brady Baker. Mr. Baker has been with New Visions for four semesters now. He is a rising 4th year student at Miami University, majoring in Diplomacy & Global Politics and a minor in Chinese. He served as External Vice-President of his fraternity Lambda Chi Alpha, and is an active member of Paws for a Cause at Miami University. 

The Summer Intern Class also includes Traditional Interns, Ohilebo Garuba, Daniel Scott, Liam Sullivan, Nicole Tascar, and Louis Yank. 

Ohilebo Garuba is a senior at The Ohio State University and originally from Nigeria, majoring in Political Science with a minor in Criminology and Sociology. At OSU, Mr. Garuba is involved in the Undergraduate Black Law Students Association, sits on the Ambassador Committee for the African Youth League, a member of the Black Student Association and Committee Lead for the Band of Brothers. Ohilebo has on campus involvement with the African Lawyers Association, Nigerian Student Association, the Debate Team and the Undergrad Criminology Majors Association.

Daniel Scott recently graduated from The Ohio State University with a B.A. in Political Science. Mr. Scott attended the University of South Carolina for two years before transferring to Ohio State. In the past, he has interned for the U.S. Senator Michael Bennet’s office in Denver as well as the Ohio Crime Victim Justice Center. Last summer, Daniel participated in a legal fellowship program in Barcelona, Spain. Moving forward, Mr. Scott hopes to further his professional development into fields that link the private and public sectors—such as lobbying—and also attend law school. Outside of work and school, he enjoys attending concerts, staying fit, and spending time with his friends. 

Liam Sullivan is returning for his third semester with New Visions Group. Mr. Sullivan is a senior at The Ohio State University majoring in Political Science and Philosophy. Liam is also involved with numerous groups on campus. He is a member of Buckeyes Against Alzheimer’s, where he helps fundraise and bring awareness to the fight against Alzheimer’s. Liam is also an active member of The Mountaineers at Ohio State, where he leads fellow students on trips outdoors and helps teach them how to rock climb. Liam plans to graduate after the fall 2020 semester. 

Nicole Tascar is an upcoming junior at The Ohio State University, and she is majoring in Psychology and minoring in Neuroscience and Public Policy. She is involved in various organizations on Ohio State’s campus, including the #Fight4HER campaign that focuses on overturning Trump’s Global Gag Rule, Advocates for Women of the World, and Buck-I-SERV. In Nikki’s free time, she loves reading and running outdoors. After completing her undergraduate degree, Nikki hopes to complete a master’s program for Public Administration. 

Louis Yank is from the Pittsburgh area and is returning for his second semester with NVG. Louis is a recent alum of Ohio Wesleyan University, where he received a B.A. in Management Economics. On-campus, Louis was a member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity and was the former Treasurer and current Pledge Educator of that institution. He was also on the Wesleyan Council of Student Affairs (WCSA), the university’s student government organization. He has also spent time as a portfolio manager and Vice-President of OWU’s Investment Club, where students manage real dollars in the stock market, generously donated by a few members of the school’s alumni network. Louis has taken an interest in the intersection of politics and business in America, and a specific interest in Ohio due to his four years as a student there.

The Summer 2020 Intern Class also includes Academic Intern Teresa Aniev. Ms. Aniev is a senior at Miami University, where she is majoring in Political Science and Entrepreneurship. Going into her sophomore year of college, it became clear to her that she wanted to attend law school after college and become a practicing attorney someday. She believes that this internship at New Visions Group will help her paint a clearer picture of what kind of law she wants to study in law school.

The New Visions Group Summer 2020  Internship Program also includes Special Projects Interns, Melany Ayala, Linda Dao, Nathan Kolenda, Gabriella McSweeney and Sarah Naiman

Melany Ayala is entering her fourth year at Ohio University. Melany is majoring in Political Science Pre-Law, with a minor in Communications. Ms. Ayala is an active member of several clubs and organizations, including Phi Alpha Delta (professional law fraternity), Political Science Majors Association, and Latino Student Union. While being a full-time student and interning with New Visions Group, Melany also has an internship at the Southeastern Ohio Legal Services, where she is a legal aid. Ms. Ayala’s major goal is to become an Immigration Lawyer to help people from all around the world. 

Linda Dao is a sophomore at the University of Toledo, majoring in Human Resources and Information Systems. At the University of Toledo, Linda is involved with the Campus Activities and Programing Club, the Filipino Student Association and the Vietnamese Student Association. Ms. Dao aspires to learn as much as possible about the day-to-day of government relations consultants while gaining meaningful business experience and having the opportunity to network and learn about the dynamic in-and-outs of Ohio’s government.

Nathan Kolenda is a Junior at Ohio University and majoring in Political Science. Mr. Kolenda was born and raised in Rockford, Michigan. At Ohio University, Nathan is involved in the Political Science Majors Association and has been recognized on  Ohio University Dean’s List,  as an Ohio Distinction Scholar and has received the Ohio Success Scholarship. Nate spends his spare time watching sports, playing golf, and following the stock market. 

Gabriella McSweeney is returning for her second semester with New Visions Group. Ms. McSweeney is a junior at The Ohio State University majoring in Political Science and Economics, with minors in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusions. Ms. McSweeney has dedicated a plethora of hours to many extracurricular activities that include being President of her school’s Model UN chapter, President of her respective DECA chapter, and working on the content committee at TEDxOhioStateUniversity to bring TED talks to life in Columbus! Gabriella loves giving back to her community and is often encouraging friends and family to join her at a local soup kitchen or homeless shelter to provide a warm meal and comfort to those in need. Ms. McSweeney will more tirelessly bring fresh and successful ideas and solutions to NVG while using her time at the firm as an opportunity to grow and flourish as a student and contributing member of society. 

Sarah Naiman is a sophomore at Oberlin College, majoring in Political Science and minoring in History. Outside of school, she also participates in WOBC (Oberlin’s radio station), the Oberlin Dems, and religious life. Sarah loves baking, reading, and crafting, and has done her best to keep herself busy with these activities during this crazy time.
